Inovent Celebrates World Industrial Design Day

Ever wonder why your wrist hurts after spending long hours in front of the PC? That keyboard and mouse might be the cause. The solution? Industrial design.

Industrial design is the applied art where aesthetics and usability of products are improved. In other words, it’s where function and form meet. This widely used yet misunderstood discipline has been in existence for 50 years.

Contributions of Industrial Design to society include some of the most unique and practical improvements ranging from the efficient waterless urinal to the more aesthetically pleasing and ergonomic Philippe Starck chairs. Industrial design encompases a wealth of products from coffee makers to callphones and even buildins. Whatever the product or use, Industrial Design’s purpose in the Design Industry (no pun intended) seems to revolve around the ability to create a free environment both by easing use and aesthetic values.

In hopes of bridging the gap between ordinary people and industrial design, Professional designers and design enthusiasts around the globe will unite on June 29, 2008 for the first ever observance of World Industrial Design Day (WIDD). INOVENT, INC; the first Industrial Design Firm in the Philippines to become a member of Icsid will take the lead in representing our country by launching the First Inovent International Industrial Design Challenge. Logistics and planning with Icsid are on going for the launch of the event this year.
